The problem for digital multimedia content owners is that consumers are demanding access to content anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Gone are the days of conditional access, where cable, satellite, or broadcast service providers distributed content through secure networks. Confined in the walled-in environments, content providers were assured their property was safe from theft. The computer, Internet, and plethora of wireless devices have completely disrupted this orderly system with over-the-top (OTT) multimedia. The result resembles a levee that has begun to leak profusely and once-protected content is being unleashed into the consuming public.
