Kilopass. NVM IP Worth Every Bit.

Kilopass XPM IP Provides Non Volatile Memory in IBM 65nm LPE Process For Portable Devices That Demand Lower Leakage Than Bulk CMOS Provides

With 1000 Hours of JEDEC 47 Standard Testing With No Failures  Kilopass XPM IP Has Been Qualified for 10 Years Operating Life

SANTA CLARA, Calif. November 19, 2012 — Kilopass Technology Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), today announced the validation of its anti-fuse XPM (eXtra Permanent Memory) NVM IP as “Ready for IBM Technology” in the IBM 65nm 10LPe (low-power enhanced) process. Kilopass’ XPM family provides up to 1Mb of storage capacity for portable device SoCs (System on Chip) that need the lower standby power consumption the IBM 65nm 10LPe process provides.  Kilopass has successfully completed 1000 hours of High Temperature Operating Life (HTOL) and 1000 hours of High Temperature Storage life (HTSL) per JEDEC 47 standard qualification on the IBM 65nm 10LPe process with no failures, thus assuring designers of at least 10 years of operating life for the XPM NVM.

The Ready for IBM Technology program is a collaborative ecosystem of companies that enables IBM to complement its semiconductor capabilities and provide complete foundry solutions to clients.  This ecosystem can help IBM’s foundry customers speed time to market, reduce development risk, lower development costs and improve return on investment by identifying IP, design and manufacturing solutions that have been tested and validated for compatibility with IBM Foundry technologies.

The IBM 65nm CMOS10LPe process is optimized for low power consumption, which makes it especially well suited for battery-operated mobile applications.  Kilopass’ anti-fuse non-volatile memory serves many of these applications, including SoCs for wireless baseband, CMOS image sensors and capacitive touchscreens.  Because the basic bit-cell storage element is implemented entirely in the standard CMOS elements of the CMOS10LPe process, porting the Kilopass anti-fuse XPM was accomplished as easily as for any logic CMOS process.

“We are excited at adding our anti-fuse-based embedded non-volatile memory XPM family to IBM’s portfolio of third party IP available on the 65nm CMOS10LPe process,” said Linh Hong, Kilopass vice president of sales and marketing.   The benefit of our anti-fuse technology is its ability to be easily implemented in any logic CMOS process, including CMOS10LPe with no additional process steps. Furthermore, as process technology scales downward, the anti-fuse program voltage used to break down the gate oxide decreases commensurate with transistor dimensions and oxide thickness thus improving XPM’s IP’s security, reliability, and storage density.”

About Kilopass XPM NVM Memory
Kilopass Technology’s XPM is a one-time programmable NVM that uses anti-fuse technology and can be fabricated on any standard, commercially available CMOS logic process.  The XPM technology is based on a 2T memory cell that has been proven by over 150 customers, with more than 2 billion units shipped in over 300 industrial, automotive, consumer electronics, mobile and analog and mixed signal chip designs.  XPM NVM IP provides unprecedented physical security, making it well suited for encryption key and secure code storage applications. The XPM family’s configuration options include density, read voltage, program/read bus width, and charge pump. It has been proven in both commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) applications.
